ONE AND A HALF HOUR PERFORMANCE CLASSES

Important Information

All performance class students must enrol for a semester. Semester 1 is school terms 1 and 2. Semester 2 is school terms 3 and 4. There is a performance at the end of each semester – either self created or scripted. Each class will do one of each per year. Students must be present and on time for each lesson. Students should not register to attend a performance semester if they are not going to make attendance a priority. Illness and activities for school are reasonable reasons to miss a class, birthdays and family holidays etc are not. Drama Performance classes are a group based activity and not attending even one week makes it very difficult for the rest of the group.

Student Created Performance

Student Created Performance classes are categorised in age groups as noted on the timetable. Students are guided by the teacher to create dramatic pieces. Pieces include monologues, small group performances and whole group performances. Each group will choose what style they would like to perform and work collaboratively on their scripts. Student Created Performance classes will also include various drama games and character development activities to enhance creative skill and technique. The class fosters imagination, independent learning, teamwork, leadership and student responsibility - all while the students are having fun!

Scripted Performance

Designed to go hand in hand with Student Created Performance (although not essential students do both) these classes are categorised into age groups as noted on the timetable. Students are given a script by Week 3 of the semester and allocated lines. If there are students who are not strong readers the script can be given out in advance so that the student has more time to go through it at home before it is being read in class. In addition, teachers are happy to prompt and support students who aren’t strong readers – many creative types find the written word hard. All abilities encouraged to attend.

Students learn the art of reading and interpreting scripts, understanding and developing characters, imagination and student responsibility.

Scripted Performance classes will also include various drama games and character development activities to enhance creative skill and technique.

Each scripted class will have specific costumes for performance that will be hired out through FCE for a fee no greater than $50.

Junior Improvisation classes

Improvisation classes are fun classes that don’t have a performance at the end of semester. There are two open classes in the year for family and friends to come along and join in the fun! Classes are categorised in age groups as noted on the timetable.

Improvisation classes include, drama games, short student created plays, character creation and student led unforeseen tangents! They are great as an introductory class or for students enrolled in a Performance class who want extra skill in a relaxed environment.
